EXERGEN® Temporal Artery Thermometer TAT-5000 was invented by Dr. Francesco Pompei, a Harvard
research scientist who held over 100 patents including NASA precision temperature sensor. In order to
obtain non-invasive and accurate core body temperature for clinical use, Dr. Pompei, in the light of the
distribution and course of superficial temporal artery, developed a high-precision medical temporal artery
thermometer which features High-frequency Continuous Thermal Scanning, Arterial Heat Balance
and other advanced technologies and integrates safety, accuracy, rapidness, gentleness and usability,
thus changing the way the world takes temperature. Currently, TAT has been nominated by world
leading brands as GE, Philips, Mindray, Nihon Kohden, etc., to be configured in their high-end vital sign
detectors for clinical body temperature measurement.

Temporal artery is located in superficial area and connected
with aorta through carotid artery. It is characterized by stable blood
flow and continuous perfusion, which helps to directly and quickly
reflect the change of central blood flow temperature and makes it
an ideal measurement target for obtaining core body temperature.
TAT accurately captures the peak temperature of the temporal
artery region with High-frequency Continuous Thermal Scanning
up to 1000 times per second. Meanwhile, it offsets the influence of
ambient temperature through patented Arterial Heat Balance, thus
obtaining accurate body core temperature.

Measure straight across the forehead and not down side of face

1. Place probe flush on center of forehead and depress button. Keeping button depressed, slowly slide probe mid-line across forehead to the hair line.

2. Keeping button depressed, lift probe from forehead, touch behind ear halfway down the mastoid process and slide down to the soft depression behind the earlobe.

3. Release button and read.

Brush the hair and bangs aside if covering the area to be measured.
